Road Safety Month was celebrated in Uttar Pradesh from 04 Jan 2023 to 05 Feb 2023

A road safety stakeholder’s workshop was organized by Consumer Guild, Uttar Pradesh with support from Consumer VOICE New Delhi   on 21rd January 2023 at Gyan Udyan Inter College Kanpur Uttar Pradesh. Local coordination was done by Upbhokta Sashktikaran Kalyan Samiti (USKS ) Kanpur .The Purpose of the workshop was to strengthen road safety to save precious lives on roads by diligent enforcement. 

Manvendra Singh, ARTO enforcement, Kanpur & Haroon Rasheed, Traffic Inspector South were the main speakers. Abhishek Srivastava, Chairperson Consumer Guild gave a detailed presentation and addressed the audience. Padam Mohan Mishra, USKS and Ashok Singh, Gyan Uday Inter College Kanpur also interacted with the audience.

More than 100 students, teachers were present in the workshop. Representatives of civil society organizations, road safety activists, media persons also joined the workshop. 

Various aspects of road safety, risk factors linked with MVAA 2019 provisions, current situation in the district, various measures taken and required to strengthen the road safety were discussed with stakeholders in the workshop. A booklet on road safety, with details on various risk factors and important provisions in the act was distributed. Media persons were also present and they supported the cause and provided good coverage to the event.

Collective Pledge:-   

A Collective Pledge was also taken by all the stakeholders and participants to abide by law to follow traffic rules and work to strengthen Road Safety.
